What is Apple Cider Vinegar?

What is Apple Cider Vinegar?
Apple Cider Vinegar is made by crushing fresh, organically grown apples and allowing them to mature in wooden barrels. When the vinegar is mature, it contains a dark, cloudy, web-like bacterial foam called mother, which becomes visible when the rich brownish liquid is held to the light. It is important when purchasing Apple Cider Vinegar to use as a natural remedy that you ensure that the ACV has "the mother." The mother can be used to add to other vinegar to hasten maturity for making more Apple Cider Vinegar. Natural vinegars that contain the mother have enzymes and minerals that other vinegars in grocery stores may not have due to over-processing, over-heating, and filtration. For this reason, it is recommended that you purchase only Natural Apple Cider Vinegar, with an ideal acidity (pH) level of 5 to 7. Apple Cider Vinegar also contains many vital minerals and nutrients such as potassium, calcium, magnesium, phosphorous, chlorine, sodium, sulfur, copper, iron, silicon and fluorine that are vital for a healthy body.

Apple Cider Vinegar can be used as a rinse for your hair after shampooing to add healthy body and shine. Pour throughout your hair after shampooing several times a week to increase body and shine.

Dandruff

Apple Cider Vinegar can be used as a home remedy for dandruff. ACV is effective at treating dandruff by restoring the pH balance of the scalp and discourage the overgrowth of malassezia furfur, the yeast-like fungus thought to trigger dandruff. In order to use ACV to treat dandruff, mix 1/4 cup ACV with 1/4 cup water and pour the solution into a spray bottle. Spritz the solution on the hair and scalp--be careful to avoid the eye and ear area. Wrap a towel around your head and let your hair sit for 15 minutes to 1 hour. Thereafter, rinse the vinegar from your hair. This should be done once or twice per week.

Apple Cider Vinegar can alleviate painful sunburn. Simply add 1 cup of ACV to your bath and soak for 10 minutes to relieve the pain from sunburn.

Cellulite

Apple Cider Vinegar can be used to fight cellulite both topically and orally.

To fight cellulite by consuming ACV, simply mix 2 tablespoons of ACV with 8 oz of water and drink each morning.

To fight cellulite by applying ACV topically, simply mix 3 parts ACV with 1 part of your favorite massage oil. Knead the solution onto the areas of your body with cellulite twice daily. This will help reduce the appearance of cellulite.

Apple Cider Vinegar can be used as a toner on your face and regulate the pH of your skin. Mix 1 part ACV with 2 parts water. Soak a cotton ball in the ACV solution and rub it over your face as a toner after cleansing your face.

Age Spots

The sulfur in Apple Cider Vinegar helps fight the signs of aging and treat age spots. Create an ACV and onion mixture to fight both age spots and sun spots.

Finely chop or blend an onion. Then use a cheese cloth or strainer to squeeze and extract the onion juice. Mix one part ACV and one part the onion juice and mix together. Soak a cotton ball in the ACV/onion mixture and apply it directly to the age or sun spots. Leave the concoction on the age or sun spots for at least 30 minutes. Repeat this at least once per day and after 6 weeks you should begin to notice gradual improvement. Continue the process until the spots have completely disappeared.

Another way to fight age spots and aging is to drink 3 Tablespoons of ACV mixed with a cup of water either hot or cold twice per day. This will not only improve age spots but also give you a young, healthy glow.

Acne

Combining 1 part ACV with 3 parts water and dabbing the liquid on a pimple is said to fight acne. Be careful to ensure that you dilute the ACV because vinegar directly on the skin can burn and irritate the skin, especially if you have sensitive skin. Drinking an ACV and water mixture will also detoxify your system and help you to have clear skin from the inside out.

Smelly Feet

If you suffer from smelly feet, you can use Apple Cider Vinegar to eliminate foot odor. Simply fill a pan with warm water and 1/3 cup of ACV, soak your feet in the mixture for 15 minutes once per week.

Body Odor

Apple Cider Vinegar is also effective in treating body odor by adjusting the skin's pH levels. The ACV will eliminate odor causing bacteria. In order to use ACV to treat armpit odor, wipe your armpits with a cotton ball soaked with undiluted Apple Cider Vinegar. You can do this over any part of your body that has body odor.

Detox

Apple Cider Vinegar can be used to cleanse and detox your system. Simply drink 2 tablespoons of ACV in a 1 or 2 liter bottle filled with filtered or distilled water. Drink this concoction throughout the day in order to detoxify your body and kidneys.

Weight Loss

Apple Cider Vinegar is also helpful in promoting weight loss. Drinking a combination of Apple Cider Vinegar and water before each meal is believed to make you fuller and prevent over eating. Another theory in how Apple Cider Vinegar promotes weight loss is that ACV speeds up metabolism. Others argue that ACV itself burns calories. Additionally, the nutrients of B6 and Lecithin in Apple Cider Vinegar are highly effective in weight loss. To use ACV to promote weight loss, either mix 2 teaspoons of ACV with 8 oz of water and drink before each meal or make the combination in a large batch and drink slowly throughout the day.

Diarrhea

Apple Cider Vinegar is a great natural remedy for diarrhea. The vinegar is an effective agent against many of the major bacteria that lead to diarrhea and the high pectin concentration in the vinegar soothes the irritated lining of the colon. In order to use Apple Cider Vinegar to treat diarrhea, mix 2 tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar into an 8 oz glass of water and drink it 3 times a day.

Constipation

Apple Cider Vinegar is effective in alleviating constipation because it contains a significant amount of pectin, a water soluble fiber that helps to improve digestion by regulating the acid levels in the stomach. In order to use ACV to treat constipation, add 2 tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar into an 8 oz glass of water, and drink this mixture three times a day. The Apple Cider Vinegar can also be mixed with apple juice or grape juice to make it more palatable.

Yeast Infection

Apple Cider Vinegar can be used to treat a yeast infection. To fight yeast infection with ACV, follow these simple steps:

For the first 3 days of the infection, add 1 1/2 cups of ACV into a bathtub filled with luke warm water, and then soak in it for about 20 minutes.

After 3 days of soaking, the infection should be significantly less. Create a mixture consisting of 1 1/2 cups of water and 2 tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar. Use this mixture as a vaginal douche twice per day for up to 5 days. Be aware that it is normal if you feel a slight sting when you first apply it internally.

After a few days of douching, start to drink a glass of water mixed with 1 teaspoon of Apple Cider Vinegar once per day.

Diabetes

Apple Cider Vinegar is effective at controlling high blood sugar levels and treating diabetes. In order to use ACV to regulate blood sugar levels, combine 2 tablespoons of ACV, a pinch of salt, and a glass of water. Drink the ACV concoction before every large meal.

Acid Reflux

It may seem counter-intuitive, but apple cider vinegar is actually an excellent natural remedy for fighting acid reflux. Although most vinegars are acidic, organic apple cider vinegar is actually alkaline and will help balance the pH levels in your stomach and prevent acid reflux. Try mixing apple cider vinegar, honey and water to create a delicious tonic to fight acid reflux. (Note: If you enjoy the taste of vinegar and are trying to cut out sugar, you can skip the honey. Most people like to add honey to sweeten the drink, but personally I love drinking apple cider vinegar and water alone.)
